‘Your Name’ (Kimi no Na wa) is a beautiful Japanese anime movie. It is about two teenagers – a boy and a girl – who magically switch bodies. The story has love, mystery, magic, and emotions. It was made by Makoto Shinkai, the same person who made The Garden of Words.
One morning, Taki wakes up and sees that he is in a girl’s body.
At the same time, Mitsuha wakes up in Tokyo, in a boy’s body. They are confused, but then they realize: They are switching bodies again and again. They start leaving messages for each other on paper, phones, and even on their hands. Slowly, they learn about each other’s lives, and they become close — even though they’ve never met in real life.
One day, the switching stops. Taki tries to call Mitsuha, but she doesn’t answer. So, he goes to find her village.But he discovers a sad truth — her village was destroyed by a comet 3 years ago, and Mitsuha died. He is heartbroken.
Taki drinks a special drink made by Mitsuha and goes back in time. He wakes up in Mitsuha’s body on the day of the comet crash. He warns the villagers and helps them escape. Then, at sunset (twilight), Taki and Mitsuha meet for the first time in real life. They are happy but sad because the magic is ending.They try to write their names on each other’s hands so they don’t forget — but the magic breaks before they can.
After the comet crash, the village is saved. But Taki and Mitsuha forget everything, even each other’s names.
Years Later – A New BeginningYears pass. Taki and Mitsuha live in Tokyo. They feel something is missing in their hearts.One day, they walk past each other on some stairs. They feel a deep connection and stop. They turn around and say:
They smile. Tears come to their eyes.
The story ends with hope and love.
